We would rather not call it artificial intelligence, and the objection is not aesthetic.
Nothing about it is artificial. Every capability in these systems was assembled out of the collective work of an enormous number of people, over decades, most of whom will never be named and were not paid for the part of it that ended up mattering. Calling the result artificial writes all of them out of it in a single adjective.
And nothing is artificial about the effect either. When it lifts a specialist past what they could previously do on their own, the additional work is real, the additional reach is real, and the person on the other end of it is genuinely better served.
Intelligence augmentation. Not artificial intelligence.
So we name it after what it does rather than what it is made of. Intelligence Augmentation. Systems that raise the ceiling of the person using them, including the experts, especially the experts.
The distinction matters commercially as well as morally. If you believe you are buying something artificial, you will deploy it to replace people and it will disappoint you. If you understand it as augmentation, you point it at your best people and it compounds.
